...unpublished Anchor ads

These were done when i joined TBWA. It was one of the options proposed to the clients. The clients loved this more than the ones that were published, but the fact that it didnt do well in research, shows that it doesnt work for that
particular target audience.

But i hate it when a research that consits of 8 wankers causes something cool like this to go down the drain. You feed em beer, food and they behave as if theyre creatiev directors n represent the whole of Malaysia...just dont like the very idea of it!

I like it cse Anchor has always been around for ages. So its kinda seen everything, been through everything. And for a beer, usualy loooking at the lighter side of life if a good thing to do..cse its beer. not a serious matter, its good to be light hearted about it. So we ( me +sathi+howdy) did it as if it was an important part of Malaysian history but at the same time poking fun at certain matters. Very much inspired by Forest Gump this campaign.

...an old pitch for tetra pack

Abit far off for a tetra pack ad ( industrial product ) but the brief n strategy given to us was targeting B2C and wanted it to be funky!

...a tribute to my most famous friend!!!

Ok I was just reading this article on the adobe newsletter site http://www.adobe.com/newsletters/edge/january2007/articles/article3/

The article was about notable flash based websites from asians and one of it was written about my old collegemate website. This guy is by far the most geek-iest person ive met in my whole life. I remember him singing to the tune of 'my heart will go on' in college...but im really pissed with the article, it says he is a SINGAPOREAN!!!! when he really is a MALAYSIAN! Freakin bastard didnt do his research before writting the article!

Anyways Johny or now dubbed JY was ranked at 14th in 2006 Young Guns. So he is now the most famous friend i have got! Im waiting for Hazim to do something to challenge JY. Just as long as he doesnt end up being famous for the wrong reasons... (potential suicide bomber, i dont even know how they let him fly on planes).

JY is as smooth as KY
check his website www.jonathanyuen.com
ultra cool! the navigations are abit hard to get used to
but the design and the 'zen-ness' of the site is amazing.
We salute you, MR.geek super ultra cool website maker , you.
Real man of genius.

...adfest+spikes

the adfest / spikes is coming up and so far at Ogilvy,
i doubt ill be completing any of my approved work
in time for it.

But at least i have this one, which i did towards the end of my
stint at TBWA. Its for a sunblock, its called Exposed.
Innitialy it was suposed to be illustrated with heroes being
recognised with the tans of thier masks on.

But had to settle for a shoot and only one character.
Thanks Loh, from studiorom and my writer sathi
and CD ong for slogging it out with me and getting it done.
Hope it picks up something...somewhere. will be happy with anything :)

...Yik Mun ( Plaza Damas )

Everytime my parents drop by Tanjung Malim they usualy bring back this amazing kaya pau from a restaurant called Yik Mun. I was walking around Plaza Damas the other day when i noticed they actualy had a branch here.. So i finally managed to check it out yesterday.

I tried the chiken chop ..the chiken chop itself was fried very well..im sure with egg and all..its like the typical hainanese chiken chop batter ( another place which fries the same way is Yut Kee, infront of Wilayah Comlplex ) but the gravy wasnt the typical hainanese style..it was very creamy. The kaya pau was excellent..if you love kaya do get thier home made kaya's which is sold there too. My friend who tagged along with me tried the Curry Chiken Fried Rice which was quite nice .. its fried rice but tasted and smelled off chiken curry. Cool.

bear rates Yik Mun 6/10. im going to check out the chiken curry with rice next. looks good. food tastes better and a lil more variety compared to Kluan Station bu decor wise kualng just slightly better than Yik Mun.

Apparently Yik Mun in Tg Malim has been around since 1926. But for me the best pau's are still from Kuala Kangsar..seriously..much better than Yik Mun. So im just listing a quick reviews of restaurants that are in the same category ( for me that is..ill name this category, chinese coffee shops that serve chiken chop :).. told yall im not that good with words)

1. Yut Sun ( Taiping ) - The best Chiken Chop and thier butter cake in the evening is to die for. Dem Kau milo ais 9/10
2. Yut Kee ( accross Wilayah Complex ) - The Chiken chop is nice.. so is the salted fish fried rice, roti babi and roti kaya but the killer is the swiss roll with homemade kaya 8/10
3. Kluang Station ( Wan U ) - Chiken chop so-so but the bun with kaya is nice 6/10
4. Yut Loy ( Kuala Kangsar ) - Chiken Chop So-so but the Pau's are the best 7/10
5. Yik Mun ( Tg Malil + Plaza Damas ) Chiken Chop creamy and filling, Pau good. 6/10

Yut Sun Gets more cse its in Taiping.

...da vinci code + Kluang Station ( Wan Utama )

Watched Da Vinci Code last nite , Wan Utama - Gold Class..Excellent seats, nice n comfy.
I have to say.. i did enjoy the movie. Havent really read the book , just read like4 pages..i hate thick fat books..but i have to say id probably read it after watching the movie..
There are moments when this film, like Tom Hanks' hair, it laid there like a limp noodle. Is this film, at times, pretentious, overlong, and boring? God yes. But it's also intriguing, suspenseful, and engrossing. But i still enjoyed it very much.
I really liked the way the movie was filmed, especially when Robert Langdon figures things or explain things n they use special effects to reveal things that happened in the old days n even the flashback parts were put in nicely in between. Loved all of the actors and felt they were really suited for thier roles. Alfred molina, tom hankks and ian mcgaylen did really well..even the wierd albine dood was alrite. Princess was hot as well..a decent kinda hot la..dont ask me to define a decent kinda hot tho.

Man every time the 'sang real' word came up i felt like having a sangria in labodega.. damn. And at some points it would have been funny if if the teabling
dude could jus say " maaan if this was in xmen i could have jus opened this thing by jus using my mutant powers..why did i have to be a crippled old crazy dude in this story ..could they have made the character more interesting by giving him mutant powers " ... damn as u can see i just cant wait to watch Xmen 3..being a comic fan and all...and superman.Anyways, before the movie i had A hainanese chiken chop in Kluang Station..really nice. But the bun wif thier homemade kaya was the killer.. damn can still taste it. damn..cant wait for lunch.

P.S.Taylor Hicks is the new american idol..wohoooo..soul patrooool!

...a logo and a profile

HornyBear was born on the planet Bearon and, as an infant, was rocketed to Earth by DirtyBear, his scientist father, moments before Bearon exploded. The rocket landed on Earth outside the town of Taiping, where young Hornybear was discovered and adopted by the amiable Siva and Indra. As he grew, he discovered that he possessed horny powers far beyond those of mortal men and women and resolved to use them to help others as horny as him. When not fighting the forces of celebacy as Hornybear, he lived among humanity as "mild-mannered" Vijay Anand, an art director for TBWA.

...blogging

Man..this is my 3rd attempt at blogging..
I may not be the best linguist, infact I cant even spell certain words right..
I may not be that happening or interesting..
but I guess this whole blog is about reviewing places I go to, food that I eat,
things I buy, books I read <>, music that I listen to..
or maybe even art or add's that I find interesting or even my own work.
